The Space Jam movie starring Michael Jordan, other basketball superstars, and the majority of Looney Toons characters is about to get a movie sequel. But gamers will also rejoice at the fact that the production house is also developing a game.
Space Jam: A New Legacy is not just a movie that will try to follow in the footsteps or rather amazing footwork of Michael Jordan and Bugs Bunny. The movie will also get a game, presumably of the same name. Reports indicate the movie and game will release next year.
Space Jam: A New Legacy arcade game:
Space Jam: A New Legacy is first and foremost a movie. It has some of the biggest names of basketball and Hollywood. LeBron James and Damian Lillard play themselves in the action-comedy life-action-animation crossover movie. But it also has stars such as Don Cheadle, Steve Harvey, Kim Carrey, and many others who are part of the full-length animated feature.
The game, based on the sequel to Space Jam, should also include LeBron James, Damian Lillard, and other basketball stars. Incidentally, the game will be coming to Xbox Game Pass in 2021.
Microsoft announced the game, and its associated competition, in collaboration with next year’s Space Jam sequel. The company indicated the game will be an “arcade-style” video game. It will be based on two of the competition’s winning ideas.
Space Jam: A New Legacy arcade game to be crowd-sourced but available to paying Xbox Game Pass subscribers only?
The general public or gamers will apparently decide the core concept and perhaps even the game and its progress. The competition to decide the final layout of the Space Jam: A New Legacy arcade game gives participants a number of pre-made concept screens.
The concept screens are based on multiple combinations of genres like action, adventure, simulation, strategy, shooter, and more. After making the preliminary selection, it asks participants for an in-depth description of how the game would play.

It’s not clear whether the winning games will make up the entirety of the final Space Jam game. However, the process appears to be a ploy to garner publicity through social media platforms. It is quite likely that the crowd-sourced components could end up being a selection of other mini-games.

Despite the production house behind the movie-based arcade game asking gamers across the world to offer their opinion, the final game will not be available to everyone. The finished game will be available as a perk to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members in 2021. In other words, only paying members of the service will get the game for free.
It is interesting to note that even the original movie had an associated video game back in 1996. Needless to add, the graphics and gameplay left the majority of gamers wanting much more. The combination of 16-bit basketball gameplay and inadequate cartoon-themed mini-games wasn’t a hit.
